In mid 2011 we were approached by the 'Kumitat Festi Esterni San Gorg Martri' (External Feasts Committee Saint George Martyr) of Qormi to manufacture in acrylic the largest Wine Glass in the world to be displayed for the first time during the SpringFest 2012.
We accepted the challenge and started
working immediately. The final result
was an amazing wine glass reaching
387 cm (12 ft. 8 in.) in height and
having a width of 204 cm (6 ft. 8 in.). It
took us more than 320 hours to
manufacture it, using more than
thirteen 3 x 2 metres acrylic sheets of
8mm and 15mm thickness.
The acrylic pieces was fused together
by means of our special adhesive
system that ensured perfect sealing
in order that the wine will not leak. In
the manufacture we also included
vacuum forming elements to decorate
it.
The Wine Glass was presented and
measured by the Guinness World
Record officials on the 21st April 2012
during the SpringFest 2012 and
declared a World Record officialy on
the same day.
