Skyline Plastic Works, Manufacture - Engraving, 3-D Engraving

3-D engraving provides our clients the possibility to create letters, designs and images that gives a 3-D effect instead of the flat effect of the normal engraving. The difference is that whilst normal engraving is done on any type of colour material and the engraved shapes can be filled with any colour you require, the 3-D Engraving must be done on a clear transparent acrylic and the engraved shapes cannot be filled with colour as its effect is visible through the engraved method used or by the use of a light sources from the edge. We can provide you with two types of 3-D engraving: the Mid-Line 3-D Engraving and the Relief 3-D Engraving.

The Mid-Line 3-D Engraving is basically the same as the normal engraving with the difference that normal engraving engraves straight down in the material whilst the Mid-Line 3-D method engraves a V-shaped grove in the material, thus creating inclined sides from a line in the middle of the engraved shape. The 3-D effect is visible both as is but better with the help of a light sources from the edges of the acrylic.

The Relief 3-D Engraving is totally different from normal engraving. It basically creates an image by means of different levels of engraving, thus creating an exact impression of the image you require. Therefore instead of colour you create an image in relief by engraving different heights in the acrylic material. The 3-D effect is visible both as is but better with the help of a light sources from the edges of the acrylic.
