The PVC we use for our engravings consist of a blend of thermoplastics specifically formulated for the production of engraved signs, labels and name plates. In fact, it consists of three layers of PVC plastic on top of each other:
1. Top Layer - it will serve as the
facia and is the layer that will be
engraved.
2. Middle Layer - it is the layer that will
be exposed when the top layer is
engraved. Therefore the colour of this
layer will determine the colour of the
engraved letters or logo.
3. Bottom Layer - This is the backing
layer and therefore is never visible.
As this material is specifically made for engraving, nothing extra is added to the sign / name plate, example paint. This is so as all the colours involved, both for the facia and the engraved letters / logos are the colours of the material. This fact gives PVC engraving two distinct advantages on other materials: It is more lasting and the process of engraving is much quicker, without the need to wait for any paint to dry.
This does not mean that paint cannot be used with PVC to create a specific shade of colour. Should that be the case, we will probably advice you to use acrylic plastic facia in order to have a larger selection of facia colours and thickness.
Our Engraving PVC is 1.5mm thick and has been continually developed to meet the demands of the market. In fact it has been proven worldwide in all conditions, including chemically aggressive environments. It can be used internally and externally and has excellent fire rating.
